Prototype
Virus. Outbreak. Containment. Eradication. That is how every normal, if normal, biotechnological error begins and ends. The game reflects a surreal setting in which something of the sort could really happen in the near future. Virus. Outbreak. Containment. Eradication. But what if this wasn't the case? What if it didn't begin or end in the same way we imagine it to be? We are always on the verge of endangering ourselves from our constant meddling with genetics. That is why Blackwatch was created. Based on a top secret organization from the government, they are dedicated in containing biological warfare. That means if in any viral or serious life threatening phenomena, they are there to eradicate it by all means necessary. They believe strongly in their work and that an any-means-necessary approach is required to preserve the human species. The released virus called "Blacklight" originated in Hope, Idaho that was designed to be tested on creating a predetermined race. It backfired and Blackwatch was there to clean it up on top secret executive orders. A host of the virus named Elizabeth Green, code-named "Mother", was transported to Manhattan, NY for further investigation by the biotechnological facility Gentek. But Alex Mercer, previously dead, adapted to the virus which changed his biological gene composition and brings him to life with supernatural powers. He steals a sample of the virus and breaks loose from Gentek, determined to find out who turned him into what he is. He releases the virus upon Manhattan and also releases Mother. Blackwatch was deployed by executive orders to contain Mercer along with the infected that now roam freely in the apocalyptic Manhattan. In this chain of conspiracies, everyone is far from safe from the truth. With such disorder and fear, along with public confusion from people who are being exposed to what is happening in Manhattan, the government always tries to find a way to suppress any intelligence from getting out. They always try to perform dirty "underground work" and experiments that can't be seen in light. The reason Blackwatch was founded was due to the Cold War, where they were testing and manipulating various weapons in biological warfare. Basically, they bite off more than they can chew. How do you kill something that can't be stopped? Its always a question whether or not we can own up to the consequences of our actions. And sometimes, we won't be as lucky in putting an end to it by governmental means. Everything that occurs in this game depicts a paralleled scenario of what society may become.
